Facebook gaming is not good as I would like says Zuckerberg

"The gaming on Facebook is not good as I would like," said Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, in an interview on the sidelines of the publication of the financial results for the third fiscal quarter, ended September 30, 2012. During the quarter the company recorded a turnover of 1.26 billion dollars, but a net loss of $ 59 million.

Despite the growth of partners such as King.com and Wooga and the renewed competition that is recorded in the gaming industry on Facebook, Zuckerberg is concerned primarily with the obvious difficulties experienced by Zynga, which provided a 20% cut of the total payments.
Zynga has announced the dismissal of 100 employees between offices in Austin and Boston, closing the whole studio in Boston. Overall, this is a reduction of 5% of the labor force of Zynga. Mark Pincus, CEO of Zynga, also wrote a letter to his employees, saying it is considering the closure of the study in the United Kingdom and Japan.

According to figures provided by Superdata the number of monthly users of Zynga games is down from the previous 162.4 million players to the current 147.8 million.

The gaming until now has been considered as an additional business model for Facebook, which would allow the company to marginalize through advertising and direct sales regulated by micro-transactions. But the industry is less profitable than expected, as Zuckerberg himself admits, while many companies are ready to take advantage of any slip Zynga.
